Rec 5v5 Format & Rules

Game Format: 

  • 20-min halves with stop clock last minute of each half. The clock stops for out of bounds, safeties and touchdowns. On touchdown stoppage the clock will restart on first down snap.
  • Four downs on each side. No punt option. If offense fails to convert first down on four plays the ball turns over at the oponent's 5-yard line.

 Rusher:

  • 6u, 8u, K-2 - No rush
  • 3-5, 10u - one rush per side (one rush prior to mid-field and one rush after the opponent crosses mid-field)
  • 12u, 14u & HS - rush allowed

No Run Zone

  • 6u, 8u, K-2 - No; defense must start 3-yards or farther from LOS
  • 3-5, 10u, 12u, 14u & HS - Yes, game is played with No Run Zone

Onside Kick

  • In the 2nd Half ONLY, when trailing a team may elect to onside kick after a conversion attempt. The team will have 1 play from the 5-yard line and must cross midfield to continue the drive. If the result of the play does not cross midfield, the opposing team will take over at the result of the play. If a defensive penalty is called the offense will receive one additional play from the spot of the foul.

7v7 PBF League Rules (Middle & High School)

Game Format:

Field:

  • 40-yards wide by 60-yards long
  • Midfield to gain at 20-yards
  • 10-yard endzones

Game Play:

  • The offensive team takes possession of the ball at its 5-yard line and has four plays to cross midfield. Once a team crosses midfield, it has four plays to score a touchdown.
  • All possession changes, except interceptions, start on the offense’s 5-yard line.
  • Rush: High school 1-yard; Middle School 4-yards.
  • QB can run.
  • Unlimited backward pitches and passes are allowed behind and beyond the line of scrimmage.
  • Double passes allowed.

Blocking:  

  • Screen blocking (like basketball picks) is allowed anywhere on the field without physical contact. Blockers must keep hands behind their backs or at their sides, using their bodies to obstruct defenders. Initiating contact, extending arms/legs, or shoving results in a penalty.

Onside Kick:
